"Jesus Born in Jerusalem?!"

Alma 7:10

(Book of Mormon)

"And behold, he shall be born of Mary, at Jerusalem which is the land of our forefathers, she being a virgin, a precious and chosen vessel, who shall be overshadowed and conceive by the power of the Holy Ghost, and bring forth a son, yea, even the Son of God."

Does that mean that the Book of Mormon is false? Of Course not!
As we think about the history of the Book of Mormon in this chapter, Alma taught the people of the American continent announcing that The Savior of the world was going to be born in 60 years.

Considering that at that time the biggest city of the world was Jerusalem, which meant it didn't matter where you were from or if you knew about Jerusalem but about a little town next to it called Bethlehem.

So you knew about Bethlehem if you were from Israel, like where the Bible is written, but the people on the other side of the world might not have.

It is like for me when here in England people ask me where I'm from and I say I'm from France, where about... euh... Lille. =) ...When in reality I'm from a little village next to it... =/

The most important thing is to remember that Jesus Christ, the Son of God, The Savior of the world, would be born to a virgin named Mary and that they lived in Judea.

If we want to go into more detail reading the Bible we see that Bethlehem was also called the City of David in Luke 2:4 (New testament). We read, "And Joseph also went up from Galilee, out of the city of Nazareth, into Judæa, unto the city of David, which is called Bethlehem; (because he was of the house and lineage of David)".

Jerusalem was also called the City of David in 2King 14:20, "And they brought him on horses: and he was buried at Jerusalem with his fathers in the city of David."

&

2King 9:28 "And his servants carried him in a chariot to Jerusalem, and buried him in his sepulchre with his fathers in the city of David."

It is interesting to notice that Jerusalem and Bethlehem are both called the City of David and that the final most important thing to remember is that Jesus Christ was born in the City of David.

I have a personal knowing that Jesus is the Son of God and that He born here on earth for a specific purpose,
"For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life" (John 3:7)
